CALL FOR PAPERS International Symposium on Cyber Worlds: Theories and Practices November 6-8, 2002 Tokyo, Japan http://cis.k.hosei.ac.jp/CW2002 PURPOSE: The First International Symposium on Cyber Worlds (CW2002) will take place in Tokyo, Japan, in November. This symposium will include four tracks and will embrace the scopes of Methodologies, Software Engineering, Modeling, Simulations, Developments and Applications of Parallel/Distributed Computer Systems and Networks, Shape Modeling, and Computer Graphics. It will thus provide an opportunity for scientists, engineers, and researchers from around the world to share the latest research, ideas, and developments in these fields. The conference will include keynote addresses, contributed papers, and tutorials. CW2002 will be held at Hosei University's Ichigaya campus, located in the central part of Tokyo. Touring around the city, you will discover a towering architecture and many colorful attractions such as museums, boutiques, and restaurants. SCOPE: Parallel/Distributed Processing (track A) This stream focuses on the methodologies that drive new developments in the field. Successful submissions in this stream will specifically address the newest work in this area. Relevant topics include, but are not restricted to: - Parallel/Distributed Architectures & Systems - Parallel/Distributed Algorithms & Applications - Parallel Languages & Their Implementations - Real-Time Distributed Systems - Software Reliability & Fault-Tolerant Systems - Performance Modeling, Analysis, and Evaluations - Network Protocols & Security Intelligent Computing and Software Engineering (track B) This stream will focus on software development relevant to the field. This can include work-in-progress, new research, and enhancements of existing software for intelligent computing. The conference organizers under this heading seek contributions of high-quality papers related to various aspects of multimedia, network, and agent computing. Successful submissions under this heading will discuss work-in-progress or research related to shape modeling and visualization technology and enhancements to existing software. Relevant topics include, but are not restricted to: - Geometric Modeling - Virtual and Augmented Reality - Real-Time Rendering and Animation - Scientific Visualization - Visualization on the Internet - Reverse Engineering - Biomedical Applications - Geophysical and Geographical Applications - Entertainment and Game Applications IMPORTANT DEADLINES: Paper submissions due: May 25, 2002 Notification of acceptance:June 15, 2002 Registration, full payment, and final papers due:July 15, 2002 SUBMISSION OF PAPERS: Prospective authors are invited to submit their draft papers in English (about 6 to 8 pages long) via the Web site at http://cis.k.hosei.ac.jp/CW2002/. Use the electronic submission system at this conference WEB site. Papers will be redirected automatically to program co-chairs in accordance with the track indicator A, B, C, D. The paper should include a cover page containing the title of the paper, authors' names and affiliations, and an abstract, some keywords, and contact author information (postal address, e-mail address, and fax number). The only acceptable file format is PDF. Papers will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity, and soundness. Each paper will be refereed by three researchers in the topic area. The vamera-ready papers will be reviewed by one person. In addition to technical papers in plenary sessions, the program for CW2002 will include academic and industrial tutorials. The Papers whose authors fail to register for the conference until July 15, 2002, will not be printed in the proceedings. The Conference Proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press.
